Welcome to CAAP English I  & AP Lang!

CAAP English I: Welcome freshmen! During the course of this year you will gain an understanding of the types of literature necessary to do well on the STAAR test and both the AP English Language and Composition and the AP English Literature and Composition exams.  You will also become a more skilled writer, which is important not only for the STAAR test and for whatever path you choose for your future. Most importantly, you will learn to think!

AP Lang: Welcome juniors! I am so excited to be teaching AP Lang again this year. While we will be reading both fiction and nonfiction this year, our focus will be on rhetorical analysis of what we read (simply put, why was this important to its audience when it was published). We will also be working on writing arguments and analysis essays to provide you with the skills, stamina, and confidence to do well on the AP Lang exam and throughout your college career. Although this is an intellectually demanding course, we have our share of fun as well. Happy learning!
