About Me

Hello! I am Sylvia Proctor, and I am thrilled to be your child's 5th-grade bilingual teacher. I have 2 degrees from the Univeristy of Houston Downtown and a M.Ed from University of St. Thomas.Teaching has always been my passion, and I believe that every child has the potential to achieve greatness. I came to Channelview ISD in 2007 and moved here in 2011. With 21 total years of experience in the classroom, I am dedicated to creating a fun and inclusive learning environment where students can grow academically and personally. I am fluent in both English and Spanish, which allows me to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and help them become confident bilingual learners. I look forward to an exciting year of learning and discovery together!

¡Hola! Soy Sylvia Proctor y estoy emocionada de ser la maestra bilingüe de quinto grado de su hijo/a. Tengo 2 títulos de la Universidad de Houston Downtown y una Maestría en Educación de la Universidad de St. Thomas. La enseñanza siempre ha sido mi pasión, y creo que cada niño/a tiene el potencial para alcanzar la grandeza. Llegué al distrito de Channelview en 2007 y me mudé aquí en 2011. Con un total de 21 años de experiencia en el aula, me dedico a crear un entorno de aprendizaje divertido e inclusivo donde los estudiantes puedan crecer académica y personalmente. Hablo fluidamente tanto inglés como español, lo que me permite conectar con estudiantes de diversos orígenes y ayudarlos a convertirse en seguros aprendices bilingües. ¡Espero con ansias un emocionante año de aprendizaje y descubrimiento juntos!
