Hello! Welcome!! During this school year, I will be teaching ELA/Reading and Social Studies. This is my 20th year as a teacher in Channelview ISD and my 19th year here at Harvey Brown. Believe it or not, but we opened this campus for the 2005-2006 academic school year. I started out teaching 3rd grade and am now enjoying 2nd grade. I try to instill a LOVE for learning and whole-heartedlly believe that ALL CHILDREN CAN AND WILL LEARN! Some may have struggles, but I take my job seriously. I do try to help my students to be successful. Second graders must learn responsibility. They have this year to get ready for many years of state assessments. So, responsibility is key. If you want to know how you can help, please listen to your children read, as often as you can. Listen to them talk about what we are learning about. Let them tell you about they types of texts we are reading. Listen to them speak about all of the subjects. The more they communicate, the more they will build upon their vocabulary. This will help them be able to write about what they are reading.
