About Me

Dear Parents, Welcome to Alice Johnson Physical Education! I am excited to begin a new year and look forward to getting to know you & your child this year. This is my 10th year teaching , and I am thrilled to be part of this school, district, and community. National & State Learning Standards for Physical Education will be assessed using a variety of measurement tools such as observations, assessments, and data. This assessment data will be criteria to help students set goals. All students will get a grade for dressing in the proper attire and participation to calculate physical education grades. Attire: Students have an opportunity to earn points for wearing appropriate attire each day. Students are expected to purchase and wear their PE uniform shirt ($15) and shorts ($10) and appropriate foot attire each A or B day. Athletic gym shoes, designed for exercise, are required in order to participate (boots, dress shoes, crocs & flip flops are prohibited). Shoes must be fastened to student’s feet with shoelaces or velcro at all times. Students are also encouraged to remove all jewelry before participating in physical education class. This includes necklaces, chains, bracelets, wristbands, rings, watches, keys worn around the neck and earrings . Students are responsible for purchasing a combination lock to secure their belongings during class because they will be assigned a locker to use during thier scheduled class period as we are not responsible for broken, lost, or stolen belongings. Conduct: Students should demonstrate appropriate classroom behavior each day. Students must be respectful, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and comply with all classroom/ safety rules. Effort: Students should give their best effort each day. Students must participate to the best of their ability at all times while in physical education class. Any student that chooses not to participate to the best of their ability at all times must have a written notice from a doctor, school nurse, or parent/guardian to be excused. Fondly, Coach Dorsey
