About Me

My name is Jonita Blake-Thompson. I'm one of the 6th grade science teachers at Alice Johnson Junior High School and I'm excited to teach your child this year! Students will learn about earth, space, force & motion and organisms.

I'm Jonita Blake-Thompson and this will be my 10th year in education. I received my bachelors of science in psychology at Sam Houston State University. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in different sectors that involved children. I realized that teaching was the best way to establish connections and develop an intentional rapport with students and parents/guardians so I received my alternative certification in Special Education and 4-8th generalist. Education is the best way to help students grow and I wanted to be a part of that process. My goal is to go back to school to school to receive my masters.

I am a proud wife, mother, sister, aunt and daughter. I love to travel and spend time with my family. I also love reading on various things to gain insight from others with different perspectives. As you can tell, I'm a lifelong learner and I would love to motivate your child to be the same!
