Welcome, my name is Mr. Salinas and I am the AVID EXCEL teacher for Lance Corporal Anthony Aguirre Junior High School. I was born in South Texas and have 7 years of experience in the education field. I received my Bachelor's Degree from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

I enrolled myself in an alternative education preparation program after I graduated because I have always had a passion for working with our future leaders. I received my teaching certificate for the general subjects for the 4-8 grade levels ( English, History, Math and Science). 

I worked 3 years at an alternative center with at-risk students. At the alternative center, we provide instruction from grade levels 6-12 for selected at-risk students outside of the standard classroom environment. We would also assist the students with tutoring and assistance in the classroom in order to meet graduation requirements. I never had a bad day working at the alternative center because I enjoyed working with those students who just needed someone to listen and care for them.

 I believe that every child has the potential to be something great in life. They just need the support to go that extra mile. In my class there will always be assistance available if the student is struggling with a lesson. We can set up tutoring before school if needed.

Aside from being an educator, I also enjoy reading books, being involved in my community and spending time with the family. I will spend most of my time on campus so that I may assist my fellow coworkers and students with school-related topics. I was an assistant basketball coach at my last campus and seeing the students perform above and beyond not only on the court but in the classroom as well was incredible. I enjoy working side by side with my fellow staff members in order to see our students succeed.

I'm currently the soccer coach at Anthony Aguirre Junior High.
